OHIO — The Cleveland Division of Police Fourth District Detective Bureau is currently investigating a felonious assault shooting on peace officer incident which occurred on September 1, 2015 at approximately 11:00pm.

The preliminary information reveals that Officers responded to an assignment for shots fired at 3868 East 131st Street, ADM Dairy Mart. Upon arrival, two white vehicles were observed parked in the lot and standing outside of the vehicles were several males and females.

One of the males pulled out a handgun and fired several shots toward the marked police vehicle which was in the curb lane of East 131st Street. At this time, the officer driving the police vehicle accelerated evasively so as not to be hit by incoming fire. Officers observed the muzzle flash on the handgun.

The suspect then began walking toward East 131st Street, again firing the weapon 7-9 times in rapid succession.

The shooter then entered one of the white vehicles, an Infinity G35, as a passenger and the vehicle pulled out behind the other white vehicle, a Chrysler 200 driven by a female.

The vehicle attempted to flee the area but was unable to accelerate due to parked vehicles and oncoming traffic. Once the vehicle stopped, in the 12700 block of Lenacrave, officers ordered the suspects to show their hands, the passenger/shooter fled on foot and was pursued by officers.

The driver, Justin Stewart, was taken into custody. The female driver of the Chrysler was arrested for obstruction of justice as she exited her vehicle and interfered with the officer’s investigation by encroaching on the active crime scene and arguing with officers as they attempted to affect an arrest.

A thorough search of the surrounding blocks, including assistance from the Canine Unit, did not find the suspect. The suspect in this case was identified as Shawn B. Hall.

He is a black male, age 26. Hall should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of Shawn B. Hall is asked to contact fourth district investigators at 216-623-5418.

No officers were injured in this incident and officers did not return fire.
