NASHVILLE, Tenn — One of the women shot last Sunday night while riding in the front seat of a car on Rains Avenue near Wedgewood Avenue is now wanted for murder. Midtown Hills Precinct detectives are investigating whether the May 14th murder case led to Dameisha Clark, 20, being specifically targeted in an act of retaliation.

Clark, who received a non-critical wound and was released from Vanderbilt University Medical Center shortly after arriving Sunday, is named in an arrest warrant charging criminal homicide for the shooting death of Johnny Broadnax, 21, at Hickory Manor Apartments on Hamilton Church Road in South Nashville. The murder investigation, being led by South Precinct Detective Derry Baltimore, alleges that Clark contacted Broadnax to arrange a drug deal and was behind the wheel of a stolen Dodge Charger from which the fatal shots are believed to have been fired. Clark is thought to have been in the Charger with at least one other person.

Officers responded to a shots fired call at 11:45 p.m. on May 14th and found Broadnax lying in the grass near a 2002 GMC Envoy which had struck an apartment building. Evidence at the scene showed that he was shot near the management office and was attempting to flee in the SUV prior to the crash. Broadnax was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died.

On Sunday night, Clark was the front seat passenger in a Nissan Sentra being driven by Kayla Blakely, 25, when two individuals in a small black sedan with custom wheels opened fire on the Sentra. Blakely, like Clark, received a non-critical wound and was treated and released. Her two rear seat passengers, Michael Myers Jr., 25, and Michael Shaw, 32, were more seriously hurt. Myers was released from the Hospital Monday. Shaw was released Thursday.

Blakely, Myers and Shaw are not suspected of being involved in the Broadnax homicide.
