Media analyst Mark Dice asks beachgoers in San Diego, California some basic questions about America’s 4th of July Independence Day celebration and their answers are quite disturbing.
Here’s what actually happened on July 4th, 1776:
-In the midst of the American Revolution, the 13 colonies secured separation from Great Britain on July 2, when they voted on the resolution of independence.
-It was not until two days later that they approved the final details of the Declaration of Independence.
-July 4 is shown on the historic document, and is the day Americans celebrate cutting ties with their colonists ever since.
-The date has long been disputed, but Founding Fathers Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, and Benjamin Franklin all wrote letters and signed them on that date.
-Even though the Declaration was approved on July 4, it wasn’t approved until almost a month later.
