HARTFORD, Connecticut — A shocking video was posted to Facebook showing police beating a suspect in a alleyway.
According to police, the suspect assaulted the Officer during the altercation and continued to resist arrest.
The Officer was identified as Det. Brian Salkeld. He was treated for a broken nose.
State Representative Brandon L. McGee Jr. responded to the video on Facebook: “I have seen yet another disturbing video (attached) of police use of brutal force upon a detained civilian in Hartford. It is difficult to watch and pains me to see a defenseless human being treated like that. I am not saying anyone is innocent here but they were apparently defenseless. At this point, I am in a conversation with Hartford’s Chief of Police and other leaders to discuss the incident in detail which will give direction on the next steps. Please note, I’m sitting in the House of Representative after debating the importance of Senate Bill 1109 which addresses excessive use of force, Use of body cameras and other important components of the bill which was passed! I will keep you posted as to how I will proceed.”
