ORLANDO, Florida — A Deputy with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office shot a suspect outside of the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) training center in September.

Armando Montalvo underwent emergency surgery after the shooting.

Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings told CBS-Miami, the deputy had no choice but to shoot the man who he believed had a knife outside the WWE Performance Center in Orlando.

Demings said the man charged the deputy, who tried to retreat before firing his gun.

The man was prohibited from being on WWE property as he had previously stalked a female wrestler known as AJ Lee. The Sheriff said the man was known to be “fixated” on the female WWE employee.

The suspect was later released from hospital, and is currently free on bond, with a trial set to take place in February.
