BROOKLYNÂ — NYPD Police Officers Brown and Cordero, assigned to the 78 Precinct, helped deliver a baby today near the intersection of Flatbush and Nostrand Avenues.
The two officers were on their way to their foot posts when they were alerted by a passerby that there was a woman in labor on the sidewalk.
Officer Brown ran across the street and began to help the 34-year-old woman who was in active labor.
Officer Brown observed the baby, who was now on the sidewalk and quickly picked her up to ensure she was breathing properly.
The mother was holding onto Officer Brown for support while Officer Cordero was keeping the baby warm with her coat.
The mother and baby were taken to Kings County Hospital and are doing well.
