NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A police helicopter pilot assisting in the service of an outstanding warrant in the Willow Creek Drive area this morning in Madison alertly spotted two vehicles traveling recklessly at high rates of speed on Brick Church Pike.
Officer Pilot Donnie Kahn radioed officers on the ground. As they responded, Emmanuel Moore, 31, pulled over at Brick Church Pike and Bellshire Drive to report his ex-girlfriend, Tiffany L. Carter, 29, was pursuing him and firing shots at him and his female passenger.
As Moore was explaining the situation to police, Carter drove up but quickly turned around and fled at an estimated speed of 70 mph in a 30 mph zone.
When she turned on Bell Grimes Lane, she lost control of her car, a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu, which went airborne and landed upside down. Carter’s 9-month-old son Elijah Moore was in the car.
His car seat had not been properly fastened and was located on the ceiling of the upside down Malibu.
Carter was holding Elijah out the window when officers arrived on the scene.
Miraculously, the child was not injured.
A gun was recovered from the point where Carter turned around on Brick Church Pike and apparently tossed the weapon from the car.
Carter is charged with two counts of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, child endangerment, evading arrest, reckless driving, and driving on a suspended license.
She has previous convictions for theft and drug possession. Carter, of Willow Court, is being held in lieu of $107,500 bond. -MNPD
