A construction worker was left shocked after he opened up the toilet lid of a portable toilet seat to find a woman inside.

Treasure Shockey, aged 27, had sparked a police chase in Eugene, Oregon, after fleeing from police who approached her in the city on Saturday morning.

The officer had been called to the area after receiving reports that Shockey was in the area.

Several officers were called to the area shortly after 11.15am and spent almost half an hour searching for Shockey.

She fled into a nearby neighborhood where a resident saw her run through their yard and jump over a fence.

Shockey was then seen heading towards the Eugene Swim and Tennis Club but officers lost sight of her.

But she was found shortly after a construction worker in the area went into an on-site portable toilet and lifted the toilet seat only to find Shockey crouching inside the sewage tank.

He immediately informed officers who arrested Shockey as she left the portable toilet.
