13-Year-Old Boy Pulled Gun From Backpack, Opened Fire on Girls at Swimming Pool: Court Docs

Gulfport, Mississippi — We’re learning more about a shooting in Gulfport last week in which a teen boy injured two girls in a shooting.

Last Tuesday, Gulfport Police arrested 13 year old Quinten Martel Winters Jr. of Gulfport charging him with two counts of aggravated assault. The arrest stemmed from an incident where at approximately 7:34 p.m., police responded to the 10000 block of East Taylor Road to investigate a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers were advised that two juvenile females were injured. Both were transported to an area hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

According to court documents, the boy allegedly pulled a revolver from his backpack before he shot at the girls who were playing at a swimming pool.

During the course of the investigation, Winters was developed as a suspect and was later taken into custody without incident.

Winters is being charged as an adult in this case and is being held in the Harrison County Adult Detention Facility with a bond set at $50,000.

A motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
