13-Year-Old Student Charged With Making ‘Terroristic Threat’ Against School

VENICE, N.Y. — On Monday, the New York State Police responded to the Southern Cayuga School in the town of Venice, Cayuga County, for a report of a student making violent threats towards other students at the school.

Troopers located the student at his home and he was taken into custody without incident.

Troopers said the boy made threats via text message regarding violence at lunchtime — officers did not elaborate further on the nature of the threat.

The 13-year-old student was charged with Making a Terroristic Threat, a class ā€œDā€ felony.

The student is scheduled to appear in the Cayuga County Family Court on May 22, 2019.
