A 19-year-old young man has died after he was pulled into a mechanic wood chipper on his first day working for a tree cutting in North Carolina.

Mason Scott Cox was trying to kick a log into the machine in a yard in Gaston County on Saturday at 12.40pm when he got caught.

He was found inside the wood chipper and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have reported that they believe no foul play was involved.

Paying tribute to her son on Monday, Mason’s mother Debra Sisk wrote on Facebook: ‘He’s with Christ and he doesn’t have to endure any more of this horrible world.. I LOVE YOU MY BABY AND I CAN’T WAIT TO BE WITH YOU’

She told WSMV: ‘I just started screaming when I found out how he died. It’s bad enough that’s he’s gone.

‘It was his first day on this job. He was trying to find work and he had been putting in applications.

‘I loved him very much and I’m going to miss him very much.’

Sisk added that her son did not have experience with wood chippers.

An investigation into Mason’s death is ongoing.
