One man was treated for stab wounds and another for severe facial injuries early Sunday, after one victim attempted to claim a 2018 Mercedes Benz at a valet stand in downtown Seattle.

Around 3:45 AM, police received a report of a fight in the valet area of a hotel in the 700 block of Pine Street. A short time later, police received a call about a 41-year-old man down on the ground, bleeding, in the 700 block of Stewart Street a short distance away.

Police soon learned the 41-year old man had been stabbed following a fight with a valet at the nearby hotel where he tried to take possession of the motor vehicle without permission of the legal owner.

The valet told the man to leave the hotel property and then chased after the man, pepper spraying the 41-year-old in the face.

The two men fought, with the 29-year-old valet sustaining significant facial and dental injuries in the struggle, before another valet broke up the fight.

As the 41-year old was walking away from the scene, the 29-year-old valet ran after him and stabbed him several times. The 41-year-old collapsed a short distance away and was found by police.

Both men were transported to Harborview Medical Center for treatment.

After investigating the incident, police determined it was appropriate to pursue charges for assault against both suspects, as well as a charge of attempted auto theft against the 41-year -old.
