A New York woman has been arrested after she allegedly ran over her boyfriend after he got out of the vehicle to walk, cops say.

Sunday morning, just before 2:00 a.m., New York State Police responded to a 911 call that there was a dead man in the roadway near number 3 County Route 85 in the town of Tuscarora, close to the Pennsylvania border.

The man was identified as Nicholas Tracy, 31, of Addison. Police say Tracy was driving with his girlfriend, Brittany Carlson, 29, of Tuscarora when for an unknown reason, Tracy got out of the vehicle and began to walk. Police said Carlson entered the drivers seat of the car and drove at Tracy striking him.

Tracy was pronounced dead at the scene and Carlson was charged with Vehicular Manslaughter, Manslaughter, Reckless Driving, Driving While Intoxicated, and Unsafe Start.

Police did not say if the couple was arguing or why Tracy exited the car.

The Steuben County District Attorney is working with State Police Investigators and the investigation is continuing.
