6 Killed In Fiery Wrong-Way Crash On I-75 In Kentucky

LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Lexington Police Department is asking the public for information regarding a fatal collision that killed six people.

At ]2:30 a.m. Sunday, January 6, 2019, officers responded to an injury collision on I-75 north near the 107.0 mile marker, approximately one mile before the Man o’ War Blvd exit. Just prior to the collision occurring, the Division of E-911 received reports of a white pickup truck traveling in the wrong direction in the northbound lanes of I-75.

A preliminary investigation determined that the pickup truck hit an SUV head-on, causing the SUV to catch fire. The driver of the pickup, a 41-year-old Georgetown, Kentucky resident, and all occupants of the SUV were killed in the crash. The occupants of the SUV were a family of five from Michigan.

Investigators are working to identify any witnesses who saw the white pickup traveling prior to the collision. Anyone with information related to this investigation is asked to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at (859) 258-3663.
