6-Year-Old Florida Girl In ‘Severe Life-Threatening Condition’ After Dog Attack

JACKSONVILLE, FLA. — On Sunday, at 10:17 a.m. police responded to a dog attack in the 2700 block of Herrick Drive. A six year old female child was located suffering from injuries received from a dog attacking her. The child was unresponsive and was transported to a local hospital by JFRD. The child was transported in severe life-threatening condition.

Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Homicide is handling the investigation. More than one dog was in the home at the time of the attack. The dog who attacked the child was not the family pet. The family was watching the dog that attacked for someone away on vacation. The dog appears to be a Pit Bull mixed breed. There were other children and a parent in the home at the time of the attack. The dog has been removed from the home.

The investigation is ongoing.
