A 62-year-old man from Texas has now been sentenced to life in prison after he received his twelfth DWI arrest.

Ivy Ray Eberhardt, aged 62, told officer he had drank half a pint of whiskey before he was pulled over in 2014.

Police reported that he was swerving on the highway and gave an officer all his credit cards instead of his driver’s licence.

A bodycam of the arrest shows officers discovering over four bottles of whiskey in Eberhardt’s car.

When tested at the roadside, he had a blood level of 0.303.

In under a month he was arrested for drunk driving again.

Eberhardt was sentenced on Wednesday and will have to serve 15 years in prison before he is eliginble for parole.

District Judge Craig Towson said: ‘Part of my job is to protect the citizens of Parker County,’

‘And the only way I can think of to do that from somebody that has 12 DWI arrests and 10 DWI convictions is to put you in a place that you can’t drive for as along as I possibly can.’
