GASTONIA, N.C. – An elderly North Carolina man is accused of murdering his wife.
On Thursday morning, around 7:00 AM, Gaston County Police responded to 4976 Willow Pond Rd. after receiving a shooting call.
Responding officers found Judy Allred Helms, 72 suffering from a gunshot wound. She was transported to Caromont Regional Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.
Helms’s husband, Rickey Allen Holdsclaw, 71 was taken into custody at the scene. He has been charged with 1st Degree Murder.
Holdsclaw is currently incarcerated at the Gaston County Jail under a hold pending first appearance in court.
Police are still working to determine a possible motive.
