LANCASTER, S.C. — Police were searching for a gunman who opened fire on police officers in Lancaster, South Carolina Sunday.
The Chester County Sherriff’s Office released the following alert: Be advised, the Chester County Sheriff’s Office, along with Lancaster Sheriff, York Sheriff, Great Falls PD, Fort Lawn PD, the Highway Patrol and SLED are actively searching for a subject, between ATI on Highway 9 and Lewisville High School, who fired shots at Lancaster County Sheriff’s Deputies.
After firing shots, the subject led deputies on a chase into Chester County where he wrecked his vehicle. The subject continued to fire shots at law enforcement after the wreck.
The subject is a black male wearing a red or orange shirt. He is to be considered armed and dangerous.
