PINE BLUFF, Arkansas — Two police officers were shot, 1 fatally at a hotel in Pine Bluff Monday.
Police say three officers working the ‘violent crime unit’ were conducting an investigation at the EconoLodge, located at 210 North Blake Street, when the officers came under fire.
The second officer who was wounded remains in the hospital in stable condition. The third officer was not injured.
“I am saddened to learn of the Pine Bluff Police Officer shot and killed in the line of duty today,” Governor Asa Hutchinson said in a statement. “Our prayers are with the officer’s family, the Pine Bluff Police Department and the law enforcement community.”
Officials did not say whether a suspect was in custody. The Arkansas State Police and ATF are investigating the incident.
