ATLANTA — Around 1:34 pm on Wednesday, Atlanta police officers responded to the Publix Supermarket, located at 1380 Atlantic Dr NW, due to a report of a heavily armed man inside the business.

The first officers on scene met with management who said a man armed with a rifle entered the store. Officers quickly found and detained the man for questioning. During the investigation, officers recovered 5 firearms and body armor from his possession–2 long guns and 3 pistols. One long gun and the pistols were concealed.

Police say the unidentified man entered the store openly carrying a rifle and entered the bathroom. A witness saw the man and alerted store management who then notified police.
