Austin Man Accused Of Fatally Stabbing Wife Before Threatening To Jump From Bridge

AUSTIN, TX – Around 3:14 p.m. on March 14, 2023, the Austin Police Department (APD) received a call about a stabbing incident at an apartment complex located on Metric Boulevard in the 11700 block. Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered Minerva Jimenez with stab wounds inside an apartment, who passed away shortly afterward.

Shortly after, at 3:25 p.m., the APD received another emergency call reporting that Jorge Luis Alvarado Blanco was threatening to jump off the west Parmer Lane bridge over North Interstate Highway 35 after allegedly killing his wife.

The 911 Emergency Communications Center received reports from people stating that Blanco wanted to jump off the bridge as he had just killed his wife.

Officers arrived on the scene and arrested Blanco, who did not resist arrest, police said.

After processing the scene and interviewing Blanco and other witnesses, Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Specialists confirmed that Blanco and Jimenez were married, and Blanco had fatally stabbed Jimenez.

Blanco is now facing charges for murder.

A motive for the killing remains unclear.
