Bald eagle dies after crashing into school bus in New York

The State Police Interstate Highway Patrol based out of Princetown investigated a School Bus Accident involving a Bald Eagle on October 30, 2017 in the Town of Duanesburg.

Investigation on scene revealed that at approximately 11:05am a Schoharie Central School District bus was westbound on Interstate 88 near Mile Marker 109 when a Bald Eagle flew directly into the path of the bus striking the windshield and shattering it. None of the students on the bus or the driver were injured in the collision.

Unfortunately the Bald Eagle was located alongside the road deceased, an official from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation responded to the scene and removed the bird.

The school bus was towed from the scene due to damage sustained in the collision after the students were transferred to a different bus.
