SEATTLE – A suspect in an armed robbery at a Bellevue marijuana retailer was fatally shot by officers in an exchange of gunfire Wednesday in South Seattle.

Three people reportedly robbed the Bellevue marijuana shop Wednesday, leading Bellevue Police to find them in Seattle around 11:30 AM.

SPD officers—joined by Bellevue PD, Kent PD, Washington State Patrol, and the King County Sheriff’s Office—took two of the suspects into custody and were attempting to contact a third suspect in a shed behind a home in the 3600 block of South Findlay Street. That suspect then fired at officers. Multiple officers returned fire, striking and killing the suspect.

SPD’s Force Investigation unit will investigate the officer-involved shooting. Representatives of the Office of Police Accountability and the Office of Inspector General responded to the scene.

Because multiples agencies were involved in this incident, investigators are still working to confirm which agencies, and how many officers, were involved in the shooting.
