TUCSON, Ariz. – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at Arizona’s Port of Nogales arrested a male U.S. citizen during a failed narcotics smuggling attempt Monday.

Office of Field Operations officers at the Morley Pedestrian Crossing referred the 17-year-old Tucson teen for further inspection when he was entering the U.S. from Mexico. Following the alert of a CBP narcotics detection canine, CBP officers searched the subject and discovered he had a concealed package strapped to his back. The package contained more than 2 pounds of cocaine, worth nearly $56,000.
