Border Patrol: 5-Year-Old Boy and Family Rescued in Desert

TUCSON, Ariz. – Tucson Sector Border Patrol agents rescued four individuals recently, which included a family of three with a 5-year-old boy.

On Wednesday evening, Ajo Station agents received a 911 call from a man stating he had been lost in the desert for seven days. Agents responded to the area described by the caller and found the man in distress. He then told agents he left his wife and son behind with another individual earlier that day. Agents deployed to the area described by the man but were unable to find anyone. More agents soon arrived on scene to assist with the search that continued through the night.

On Thursday afternoon, agents received word that a Fish and Wildlife officer found the three individuals. Border Patrol agents responded to the location and conducted a medical evaluation.

After determining that no further medical attention was needed, agents transported the trio to the Tucson Coordination Center for processing in accordance with Tucson Sector guidelines.
