DEL RIO, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested a convicted sex offender who had been previously removed. Within 24 hours, agents also arrested a Mexican national who had been previously convicted of voluntary manslaughter.

“Our encounters with dangerous individuals shows the type of environment agents and law enforcement officers deal with on a daily basis,” said Del Rio Sector Acting Chief Patrol Agent Matthew J. Hudak. “I commend our agents for their vigilance and exceptional job of securing our borders and protecting our communities against dangerous criminals.”

On Nov. 2, Jorge Francisco Alarcon-Vaquera, 30, an undocumented immigrant from Mexico, was apprehended by Eagle Pass Border Patrol agents near Eagle Pass. During processing, agents discovered that Alarcon-Vaquera was convicted of indecency with a child-sexual contact, in Dallas. Alarcon-Vaquera was removed on June 17, 2008, to Mexico, after serving his prison sentence.

On Nov. 3, Sergio Avila-Saucedo, 33, an undocumented immigrant from Mexico, was apprehended by Comstock Border Patrol agents near Comstock. During processing, agents discovered that Avila-Saucedo was convicted of voluntary manslaughter, in Las Vegas. Avila-Saucedo was sentenced to eight years in prison and was removed on Sept. 11, 2012, to Mexico.

Alarcon-Vaquera and Avila-Saucedo both face a charge of illegal re-entry after deportation – 8 USC § 1326 – which carries a possible sentence of up to 20 years in prison.
