Border Patrol Agents In Texas Nab Previously Deported MS-13 Gang Member

UVALDE, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Uvalde Station arrested a member of the Mara Salvatrucha, MS-13 gang, Jan. 19.

“Yet another MS-13 gang member was arrested in our area of responsibility,” said Del Rio Sector Chief Patrol Agent Raul L. Ortiz, “I commend our agents’ dedication to protecting our nation’s borders, and keeping these criminals out of our communities.”

A 23-year-old Mexican male from Michoacan was arrested shortly after making illegal entry and was later confirmed as a member of the MS-13 gang. The MS-13 gang is a violent transnational criminal organization, operating in many parts of the United States. He has an extensive immigration history, with more than 10 arrests.

His prior order of removal will be reinstated and he faces felony prosecution under 8 USC § 1326 – Reentry after Deportation, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.

Since October, Del Rio Sector has arrested over a dozen gang members attempting to illegally enter the United States.
