New York Police Commissioner Bill Bratton is concerned that the NYPD may again turn its backs to Mayor Bill de Blasio at another NYPD funeral.

The New York Post reports that Mayor de Blasio sent out a memo warning that NYPD officers be on good behavior.

“A hero’s funeral is about grieving, not grievance,” began the four-paragraph plea, which is being read at precinct roll calls ahead of slain Officer Wen Jian Liu’sSunday service.

Although Bratton does not indicate that he plans to punish officers that chose to turn their backs to de Blasio, he asked that they set their anger aside.

“I issue no mandates and I make no threats of discipline,” the memo continued. “But I remind you that when you don the uniform of this department, you are bound by the tradition, honor, and decency that go with it.”

Thousands of police officers turned their backs to Mayor de Blasio as he spoke as his image was shown outside the church at Officer Ramos’ memorial service, however, Bratton publicly called the act “inappropriate.”
