MANHATTAN — A two-year-old girl has died from her injuries a day after she was hit by falling bricks from a Manhattan building.

The child’s grandmother, 60, suffered leg injuries after the debris fell. The pieces of brick and concrete fell from the eighth floor.

The toddler was identified as 2-year-old Greta Greene. The family plans to donate the girls organs, the NY Daily News reported.

The FDNY was called to 305 West End Avenue near West 74th Street around 11:00AM Sunday morning, for reports of a brick that had fallen and struck a two year old on the head. Upon arrival, emergency personnel found two people injured – one of them a two-year-old child with critical injuries.

The child was listed in serious but stable condition Sunday afternoon, police said. She remained in the hospital Monday.

A city Department of Buildings emergency crew was sent to the site to investigate.

Manhattan is the most densely populated of the five boroughs of New York City. The borough is coterminous with New York County, founded on November 1, 1683 as an original county of the U.S. state of New York.
