Firefighter Plunges To His Death While Battling Blaze In NYC

NEW YORK — A New York City firefighter fell to his death Thursday after falling from the roof of a building while battling a blaze in Queens. He has been identified as 42-year-old William Tolley—Tolley leaves behind a wife and 8-year-old daughter.

The 2 alarm fire was burning at Putnam Avenue and Myrtle Avenue when the firefighter reportedly fell five stories.

An eyewitness said that it appeared that the firefighter was attempting to climb from the roof onto the bucket, when he fell.

He was taken to the hospital with a police escort. The fire was knocked down.
