Staff and students of Hialeah Elementary School were evacuted after a pressure cooker was found outside a building nearby.
Footage showed students and teachers gathered on outdoor basketball courts away from the building.
A school bus was close to the item and police had the nearby street closed off.
A Miami-Dade police bomb squad was called out after a suspicious item was spotted at a Hialeah school.
The school has been evacuated as a precaution. The children were taken to the nearby Curtiss Library.
School police and the fire department responded to the school, officials said.
The cooker was found under a tree about five feet from the kindergarten building at the school at 550 E. 8th Street, school board officials said.
