21-year-old Joey Meek of Lexington, South Carolina is under investigation by the FBI, according to several reports.
Meek is a friend of the Charleston Church Shooter Dyaln Roof, who killed nine African Americans inside of Charleston AME Church in June.
Meek was taken into custody by the FBI while he was at work, Slate reported.
Officials believe Meek lied to investigators and knew about the crime before it took place, failing to alert authorities.
Meek told the AP that Roof stayed with him at a trailer home in Red Bank, about 20 miles from Columbia, before the attack at AME.
From Slate: Meek [says] he does not believe he has committed any crime. He said he called authorities as soon as he saw Roof’s image on television in a video taken from a security camera at Emanuel AME Church in Charleston.
Roof faces state and federal murder charges in connection with the June 17 killings at the historic church. A manifesto he allegedly published online said Roof went there hoping to start a race war.
