Gunman Opens Fire at Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Station; Scene Is ‘Active’

At least one Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy was shot at the department’s Lancaster station Wednesday. The gunfire erupted around 3:00 p.m. local time.

Deputies set up a perimeter at the location, 501 West Lancaster Boulevard, adding that the suspect was not in custody.

Officials said on Twitter the scene was active. Residents were asked to avoid the area.

According to local media, the wounded officer was struck in the shoulder. A motive for the attack was not known.
