NEW YORK — Statement on David Sweat’s Condition from Albany Medical Center Medical Director Dennis P. McKenna, MD:

“As of Wednesday, July 1, David Sweat remains under the care of physicians at Albany Medical Center. He continues to be in fair condition and is expected to remain at Albany Medical Center for at least a few days.

Updates on his condition will be provided as appropriate. Security measures continue to be implemented to ensure the safety and security of our patients and their families, our employees, and the public.”

David Sweat was airlifted from Potsdam to Albany Medical Center last Sunday night, after being shot and captured, ending a three week long manhunt.

The 2015 Clinton Correctional Facility escape took place on June 6, 2015, when two inmates, Richard Matt and David Sweat, were discovered missing during a 5:30 a.m. bed check at the maximum security Clinton Correctional Facility.

The two men had each been serving time for murder.

Nearly three weeks later, Matt was found at Malone, New York, where he was shot and killed;[2] and two days after that, Sweat was shot and taken into custody.
