Justice Department officials have reportedly submitted a criminal referral involving former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe.

The Washington Post reported: The referral to the D.C. U.S. Attorney’s Office occurred some time ago, after the inspector general concluded McCabe had lied to investigators or his own boss, then-FBI Director James B. Comey, on four occasions, three of them under oath.

It was not immediately clear how the D.C. U.S. Attorney’s Office responded to the referral, or whether prosecutors there are conducting their own investigation or believe criminal charges are appropriate.

McCabe served as the Deputy Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation from February 2016 to January 2018.

From May 9, 2017, to August 2, 2017, McCabe served as the Acting Director of the FBI following James Comey’s dismissal by President Donald Trump.

On March 16, 2018, Sessions fired McCabe 26 hours before his scheduled retirement.
