Birmingham, Alabama police say they have found the body of 3-year-old Kamille “Cupcake” McKinney — who went missing from a birthday party 10 days ago.

Her remains were discovered inside a dumpster at a landfill, police said. Investigators had been watching garbage deposits there.

Two suspects, Patrick Stallworth, 39, and Derick Irisha Brown, 29, are facing charges of kidnapping and capital murder in the case.

The suspects had been placed in custody on unrelated charges and were labeled persons of interests in the toddler’s disappearance. Stallworth was arrested on child porn charges and Brown for violating probation on a previous kidnapping charge.

Police Chief Patrick Smith said at the press conference that the suspects are not believed to have any connection with the McKinney family.

“We believe that this was something they thought about and acted upon and they saw an opportunity to take a young child, and they did,” Smith said Tuesday. “At this moment that we’re standing in, I ask one thing of this community: not to take sides and not to finger point. But if there is any finger pointing to do it is only at the perpetrator, who would kidnap an innocent 3-year-old.”
