LAPD Officer Charged With Sexually Assaulting 13-Year-Old Girl in Her Home

CALIFORNIA — A Los Angeles Police officer has been charged with sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl in her Torrance home last month, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said.

Kenneth Collard, 51, was charged with three counts of lewd act upon a child and one count of sexual penetration by foreign object.

The case was filed for warrant on May 14.

Deputy District Attorney Ann Marie Wise of the Justice System Integrity Division is prosecuting the case.

On April 4, Collard was staying at a friend’s house in Torrance. During the middle of the night, he allegedly entered the victim’s bedroom and is accused of sexually assaulting her. The incident was reported to law enforcement.

Prosecutors are recommending bail be set at $400,000. If convicted as charged, Collard faces a possible maximum sentence of 32 years in state prison.
