BROOKLYN — The New York City Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying the man depicted in the above photograph wanted for questioning in connection to the massive fire in the Kings Plaza Shopping Mall in Brooklyn.
On Monday morning, around 8:30AM, police responded to a 911 call for a fire at the parking garage of 5100 Kings Plaza (Kings Plaza Mall). Upon arrival, it was discovered that numerous vehicles had caught fire on the second floor of the garage. FDNY personnel responded to the scene and extinguished the fire.
More than 100 vehicles were destroyed and nearly two dozen people were hurt in the blaze. Twenty-one people, 18 of them firefighters, suffered non-life-threatening injuries, mostly related to smoke inhalation and heat exhaustion. Four of the victims were taken to hospitals.
A subsequent investigation determined that a person of interest was seen on surveillance camera in the vicinity of the location around the time of the incident.

The individual is described as: Male, Black, last seen with a white shirt and wearing dark pants and dark colored footwear.
