OAKLAND, Calif. – Police were responding to a school shooting in Oakland Wednesday afternoon.
The gunfire broke out at Sojourner Truth Independent Study — a collection of school campuses — around 12:45 local time.
According to local media, at least five people were transported to hospitals. The extent of their injuries are unclear.

No arrests have been made and residents are being asked to avoid the area.
