Oklahoma Police Chief Murdered, Officer Charged In His Death

PENSACOLA, FLORIDA — Officials say an Oklahoma police chief was found dead in a Florida hotel room, and one of his officers is charged in his death.

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office arrested 49-year-old Michael Patrick Nealey for the homicide of Lucky Miller, the Mannford, Oklahoma Chief of Police.

Cops were called to the Hilton on Pensacola Beach Sunday morning for a physical altercation and found the Chief dead. How Miller died was not immediately clear.

Escambia Sgt. Melony Peterson said, “We were told they came here together and were in town for a conference. But we don’t know yet which conference they were going to. We’re still figuring that out.”

The City of Mannford posted a statement on Facebook, With sadness we report the death of Mannford Police Chief Lucky Miller who died November 10, 2019 in Pensacola, Florida. Details of the incident are not fully known at this time. Miller, 44, has been Mannford Police Chief since 2007. He is survived by his wife, Amber, and three children.

“We are heartbroken by the news,” says Mayor Tyler Buttram. “Please keep both families in your prayers as we work to move forward.”

Mannford Town Administrator Gerald Haury has named officer Jerry Ridley as interim police chief.
