Police in Orange, California say the gunman who carried out a mass shooting at a business complex Wednesday afternoon knew all of the victims. Although, his exact relationship to the victims was not known.

Four people were killed, including a 9-year-old boy at the complex–in the 200 block of West Lincoln Avenue around 5:30 p.m.

Police arrived on scene and engaged the shooter and he was hit multiple times. He has been identified as 44-year-old Aminadab Galaxio Gonzalez.

He remains in a hospital in critical condition. A surviving adult female victim is also hospitalized.

Police say Gonzalez used a bicycle lock to secure the courtyard gate behind him before he started shooting into windows.

When the shooting was over, police located a backpack believed to belong to the suspect. The backpack contained pepper spray, handcuffs, and ammunition, police said.

Police say the gunman is seen in surveillance video inside the United Homes building but did not immediately release the footage.
