Police Find Spot Where They Believe Escaped Inmates Have Slept

UPSTATE NEW YORK — Police have located a spot in a heavily wooded area off Route 374, east of the village of Dannemora between General Leroy Manor Road and Rand Hill Road in West Plattsburgh, where the escaped inmates may have been hiding out.

NY State Police blocked the road in the area Wednesday night to investigate.

Police K9 units lead Officers to the location after picking up on the inmate’s scent, according to TWC News.

Food wrappers and other trash were found and investigators believe the suspects slept there for more than one night… The escaped murderers were reported missing early Saturday form the Clinton Correctional Facility.

The New York State Police continue to investigate leads and search for the two men.

MORE: Law enforcement was searching homes in the village of Dannemora on Wednesday. These searches are not the result of a new lead, law enforcement are retracing steps made early in the investigation. Residents will notice an increased police presence in the area.

If members of the public see anything unusual upon arriving at their residence or seasonal homes, they are asked to contact law enforcement immediately.

The State Police have deployed all available assets in an effort to ensure the safety of the public.
