UPDATE: Shooting Near Military Recruitment Center in Iowa

IOWA — Davenport Police responded to a shots fired call at 1:56 p.m. Monday at a law firm located at 710 E. Kimberly Road in a building shared by a military recruiter.

The recruiting office and its employees were not the target of the incident.

Several shots were fired inside the building. No one was shot during the incident.

Two people did receive superficial injuries in the incident. Police arrived on the scene within three minutes of the initial report.

The suspected gunman wasn’t at the scene when officers arrived. Bettendorf police were later called to a location on Utica Ridge Road for a person with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

At approximately 2:05 p.m., Bettendorf Police received a call of shots fired at a business in the 4500 Block of Utica Ridge Road. When officers arrived to the scene, they saw a suspect matching the description of the shooter in Davenport.

The suspect was standing in the parking lot of the business with a gun in his hand. When the suspect saw the officers he fired one round to his head. It was a fatal wound.

There were no other injuries.

The incident is under investigation.
