Police Officer Shot In Jackson, Mississippi

JACKSON, Mississippi —  Police in Jackson confirm to MSNewsNow that an officer from the Jackson Police Department has been injured by gunfire tonight.

The Officer was reportedly shot in the arm and was conscious, according to witnesses. He is expected to survive… This is no confirmed.

The scene of the shooting is at Bailey Avenue and Northside Drive, the report said. Multiple suspects have been apprehended for questioning.

Jackson is the capital and since 1944 the largest city of the state of Mississippi. The city is located on the Pearl River, which drains into the Gulf of Mexico and is part of the Jackson Prairie region of the state.

The Jackson Police Department provides law enforcement services to approximately 185,000 citizens encompassing 122 square miles of Jackson, Mississippi. JPD is composed of approximately 430 sworn officers who are supported by over 250 civilian personnel.
