Toronto police were responding to a shooting downtown Monday as thousands gathered in the streets for the Raptors NBA Championship Parade.

Officers believe that a woman has been shot at Nathan Phillips Square. The scene is near Bay Street. At least one other person was also injured.

Two suspects were in custody and two firearms were recovered.

Video posted online showed people fleeing the scene as organizers urged everyone to remain calm.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was in attendance but stayed at the event.

The injured were taken to a hospital — conditions serious but not considered life-threatening.
