Police Investigating ‘Active Shooter’ Incident Near Seattle–Tacoma International Airport

SEATTLE — The Washington State Patrol were investigating an active shooter incident along SR 509 near the Seattle–Tacoma International Airport Wednesday.

Police say at least four cars were struck by gunfire—there are no reports of shooting victims at this time.

All lanes near S 160th St on SB 509 are blocked for the investigation. Motorists are advised to avoid the area.

Troopers and WSP aircraft were searching the area for the active shooter. “Please remain vigilant and avoid the area. We’ll provide updates here as they come in. If you see any suspicious activity, please call 911,” State Police wrote on Facebook.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation said in a statement: “Heads up for the SeaTac area: Both directions of SR 509 are blocked due to police activity. There is no estimate for when it will open so please avoid the area if possible. Northbound traffic is being diverted to 188th and southbound is being diverted to 160th. Any questions about the incident should be directed to the Washington State Patrol.”
