LOGAN, Utah — Police believe they have found the body of missing 5-year-old Elizabeth Shelley — who was last seen at 2 a.m. and discovered missing at 10AM last Saturday morning on the west side of Logan.

The girl’s uncle, 21-year-old Alex Whipple, reportedly told investigators where to find the girl’s body — which was located in the woods near her home.

According to the AP, prosecutors ‘agreed to take the death penalty off the table in exchange for the map provided by suspect Alex Whipple.’

Whipple had previously been taken into police custody on a probation violation. He has been charged with aggravated murder, child kidnapping and other counts.

Police say Whipple had been ‘uncooperative’ in the investigation. Whipple was visiting the family’s home Friday evening and was last seen around the same time as Elizabeth.

Whipple told investigators alcohol causes him to “black out” and he occasionally does “criminal things.”

Police told CNN at the time of the disappearance, the incident ‘is not going to end well.’

“We’re very concerned,” said Logan police Capt. Tyson Budge. “At this point, we believe she’s been harmed.”
