All schools have been evacuated in the Canadian province of Prince Edward Island, with the RCMP citing a potential threat.
The RCMP released the following statement after confirming emergency evacuation plans have been activated.
“Staff are taking students to safe locations in the community and buses are meeting them there. Parents need to meet their children at these safe areas,” the police force said.
The RCMP is now urging parents and guardians to wait for further information before heading to pick up their children.
Three schools in nearby Nova Scotia also were evacuated due to potential threats, the Associated Press reported.
