On Wednesday, San Francisco Police Department’s Tenderloin Station conducted a five-hour fugitive recovery operation that led to the arrest of 50 individuals wanted on warrants for crimes including burglary, aggravated assault and drug dealing.
The operation is a component of SFPD’s ongoing strategy to make San Francisco’s Tenderloin and downtown districts safer. The strategy includes increased foot beats and undercover operations to address criminal activity.
In Wednesday’s operation,
- 38 of the 50 individuals arrested are fugitives
- 12 individuals are wanted in outside jurisdictions that include Petaluma, San Mateo County, Berkeley, Colma and Walnut Creek
- 12 individuals received new charges as a result of the operation, including violating court orders and possession of weapons
- 8 individuals are parolees arrested for either having warrants or violating the conditions of their parole
“The officers of Tenderloin Station are committed to strategic enforcement designed to decrease crime and the fear of crime in the neighborhoods we serve,” said Tenderloin Station Captain Carl Fabbri. “We are grateful for the close relationship we share with our Tenderloin community. Their trust and support for our officers make it possible to carry out these successful operations.”
In October, 2018 Tenderloin Station conducted a similar operation that led to 37 arrests in one day. This week’s operation was conducted in conjunction with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation and the San Francisco Sheriff’s Department’s Warrant Service Unit. The San Francisco Police Department thanks both agencies for their commitment to helping make our City’s neighborhoods safer.
