Shooter from “higher elevation” opens fire on police officers in Gaithersburg, Maryland

GAITHERSBURG, Md. – An unknown person reportedly opened fire on police from an elevated position in Gaithersburg Wednesday.

Gaithersburg police officers were called to 392 N Summit Avenue for “parking hazard” around 3:00 pm local time and as officers responded, they were shot at from “higher elevation,” Montgomery County police said.

No injuries were reported and it was unclear if the officers returned fire.

A manhunt is underway for the shooter.
